A. B. Simpson – Woman Healed of Stomach Troubles

I HAVE been requested several times, during the past year, to write a word of
testimony of my healing, but until of late, have never felt a special call to do so.  From a frail, delicate child, I became, early in life, a helpless invalid. The physicians said I was suffering from a complication of diseases, several of them organic about all they could do was to relieve, in a measure, the terrible pain from which I was never free. My stomach was in a wretched condition, and for seven long years my life was a burden, and but for the grace of God, I should have been of all creatures the most miserable. I loved and trusted my Savior and He wonderfully sustained and comforted me.

We employed the best skill to be had at home, and I was finally sent to one of the leading hospitals in New York City. I was there treated with the utmost kindness,
and believe that all my physicians did everything they could for my relief; but of little
or no avail. While in New York I formed the acquaintance of one of the dearest Christian ladies I ever met. She was exceedingly kind and did a great deal for me; more than I can ever repay. When I left the hospital she took me to her home, where I met other dear Christians, and was led by their influence and prayers to look to Jesus, the Great Physician, for the healing of my poor diseased body.

By request, Rev. A.B. Simpson came to see me. I had read and thought much of divine healing, but had never before had it so plainly and forcibly shown that Christ died for the body as well as for the soul. After talking with me awhile, he read the fourteenth and fifteenth verses of the fifth chapter of James, then prayed for me anointing my head with oil. Through all eternity I shall bless God for that prayer of faith and all the others that were offered up for me by those faithful Christian people. I began to improve from that hour, and in two months I could walk for the first time in seven years, I often felt that it was too good to be true, and almost think it was a dream. Thank God, it was a blessed reality! But oh, how hard Satan fought to keep me down! Many times through extreme provocation and ignorance, have I sadly erred, and like poor Christian, I have been a prisoner in Doubting Castle, and waged fearful warfare with Apollyon. But thanks be to God which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Temptations, trials and afflictions Christ bore them all. And shall the servant expect to be greater than his Lord? Nay, verily, but with the temptation, He will also provide a way of escape, if we fully trust Him. Through great tribulations and waters that have well-nigh overwhelmed me I have been brought to stand today more firmly on Christ, the Rock of Ages, than ever before. I would prayerfully commend all who may read these few lines to His loving care. Especially the sick, whoever and wherever you are, seek earnestly the counsel and aid of the Great Physician, without money and without price. Here alone is found true joy and peace. He is the only true and living way.
