Stephen Jeffreys – Divine Healing Meeting in a Car

I rejoice almost beyond my power to express when I think of the wonderful way in which the Lord raised me from my bed of sickness. I was a helpless invalid for three years and five months, suffering from severe spinal trouble. Doctors, hospital, medicines, and all earthly skill failed in their efforts to heal me. I was given up as a hopeless case. Here I
proved that man’s extremity was God’s opportunity. Only a fortnight previous to my visit to Mr. Stephen Jeffreys’ Divine Healing Campaign at Chesterfield, my doctor told my wife that he was very sorry for me, being only a young man, and that all had been done that was possible for my case.

If the doctor had given me up, I knew my Jesus had not, and it was in this faith that I took the journey to Chesterfield on Sunday, November 13th, 1927. Owing to the long duration of my illness I had disposed of all my clothes, so that I had to borrow sufficient to make the journey. Being so stiff from head to foot, it was impossible to get anything on except the trousers, which had to be pulled on for me. My full attire consisted of socks, trousers, and my wife’s cardigan. It took three men to lift me into the car. Owing to this difficulty it was thought advisable to ask the Pastor if he could attend me in the car for convenience sake. He willingly consented, and it was there in the car that the Lord delivered me. Praise the Lord! Certainly the Lord gave me more than I expected; otherwise I should have gone better equipped with articles of clothing. All glory to Jesus for His wonderful love to me. Now I am on my way rejoicing in a true and living Savior.
I remain, yours in Christ Jesus,

A. WRIGHT

Somercotes, Near Alfreton, Derbyshire, March 1928.

NOTE: This man who had never even raised his body for three years and five months, walked out of the car into the meeting, up the steps on to the platform, where he sat during the meeting. Also he spoke, standing on the platform, telling the people what God had done for him. The foregoing letter was written some weeks after this healing. The writer was present at a crowded meeting in Derby in March of this year (1928) at which Mr. Wright spoke. He carries himself with the ease and strength of a well
drilled soldier. Shortly after this his healing the doctor who had attended Mr. Wright told other patients in his surgery that what he (the doctor) had not been able to do for Mr. Wright the Great Physician had done.
