James Moore Hickson – Woman Healed of Lupus

One of the most beautiful instances of the healing of Christ in our own day is that of a poor woman who was suffering from lupus. She had earned her living by taking in washing, but as time went on people began to be afraid to employ her because of her disease. Then she felt that she was an outcast, and she did not know how to live. Her
suffering and distress were so great that she was tempted to end it all by taking her life. She was brought for prayer and the laying on of hands, and I shall never forget the sight of that poor little woman, looking utterly wretched, her face a mass of disease. I could only take her hand and place it in the Hand of Christ. As we prayed together, I was so conscious of His compassion that I could not keep back the tears. I knew that Jesus was
present with us, but her spiritual eyes were opened to see Him, and she told me afterwards, `I saw the Lord. He was standing in front of me, and His Hands were over yours.’ Our Lord healed that woman, and we can say with all our hearts today, or it is true ‘Bless the Lord, 0 my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities, Who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; Who crowneth thee with loving kindness and tender mercies.’
