I thank God for ever bringing Sister Woodworth to the southern part of the city, for through her preaching my husband was healed of a rupture, and, praise God, I was healed both soul and body. I was lost, but Jesus found me. I was sick, but Jesus healed me. Remember Jesus doeth all things well. “Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8 When I went to the altar I had a tumor in my left side. It came from a fall I had nine years ago. From that time on I was in continual misery, suffering,
and great pain—at times worse than others. No one can tell my sufferings. None of my folks ever knew how I often thought of taking my own life, my sufferings were so great. Only my husband’s prayer’s and kindness kept me from it. Combined with the tumor I had several other diseases – hemorrhage of the lower organs of the bowels, piles, spitting of blood and rheumatism. Three years ago I was completely crippled by inflammatory rheumatism in my feet, then in my left arm and hand. We tried many earthly physicians, in this city and elsewhere, but to no avail, as only a little relief was gained. The doctors said that not even an operation would help me. Then we knew there was no
more help for me on earth, but a slow, lingering death, perhaps months or years, but eventually it would take my life. Although I was up and around then, I could hide my pain and misery before the world, but oh what miserable long nights they were to me.

I will never forget the day I went to the altar on August 10th 1893.  I was a poor, miserable sinner.  I laid all my sins, and this sick, crippled body humbly at the feet of Jesus. Jesus, in His loving kindness and mercy, looked down on a miserable wretch like me, and instantly I was every whit whole, both soul and body. Who would not feel to rejoice and praise God, to have that blessed assurance that Jesus is mine, and to have ache and pain gone in an instant? Oh how I thank God for His tender mercies to the children. I hope and pray this testimony will bring many a sin-sick soul to the feet of Jesus. May God bless Sister Woodworth and her co-workers, wherever they may be. May
God also bless Brother Spiher. Pray for me that I will hold out faithful.
Yours in Christ.

Elder H. H. Spiher was a Church of God (Winebrenner) pastor who helped Maria Woodworth establish churches out of her evangelistic meetings at least twice.
