A Major in Paris, was suffering from consumption (tuberculosis), and was not expected to live many days when I was called upon to pray over him. I found him so weak that, when he tried to lift up his hand to welcome myself, and a brother who accompanied me, he could not; and when he tried to speak, we could not understand what he said. We stayed full three hours with him; first we explained to him the doctrine of healing by the prayer of faith, for the purpose of encouraging his faith, after which we both prayed over him with laying on of hands.

After my prayer, the sick man grasped my hands so firmly and heartily it made my shoulder ache, and in a strong, rough voice, he said: “I am very much obliged to you for your prayers; I quite appreciate all you have done for me,” etc., etc. As soon as we left, he threw back the bedclothes, arose, and getting out of bed without aid, dressed himself, walked down stairs, walked half a mile, mounted three flights of stairs to visit a friend, where he sat one half hour, and then walked home again, Four months after, be took a journey to America, stayed there six months, after which he returned in perfect health and strength to Paris, where, according to accounts lately received, he is still living in the full enjoyment of health.
