We are in the process of fixing a few broken links and the beginning of a new research push.
One of the things we have done is to slightly modify A. A. Allen’s biography. The controversy about whether Allen had an alcohol problem continues to rage across the body of Christ. Claims for and against are thrown around the internet with little substantial support. Rather than take a stand one way or the other we simply say there is a question about it and leave it at that.
We have just added links for approximately a dozen articles written by A. J. Gordon on the reference page under his biography.
We’ve added several editions of Leaves of Healing by Dowie and Voliva (Zion’s successor after Dowie). These are found on the reference page under Dowie’s biography.
James R. Dunn was a noted evangelist from West Virginia who was associated with the Voice of Healing organization. We’ve made a first pass on his biography.
We’ve added a link and small article about Maria Woodworth-Etter being in Greensburg, Indiana where a church was established in 1887 out of revival meetings she held there. Most of the churches that came from W-E meetings did not succeed as the revival atmosphere would disappear when she left town.
We’ve added several books to the reference page under E, E. Byrum’s biography. His classic book titled “Divine Healing for the Body and Soul” is one of the newly added items. The Church of God, Anderson Indiana was a revival movement in the late 1800’s which included Divine Healing as a foundational belief. Byrum himself stepped outside the denominational box to work with F. F. Bosworth, although he received little support within his own leadership structure. Byrum had a passion for healing and pursued it, even when it cost him to do so.
We have found and interesting book on the history of healing and the Church of God. The title is “Who Healeth All Thy Diseases: Health, Healing, and Holiness in the Church of God Reformation Movement” (Revitalization: Explorations in World Christian Movements Pentecostal and Charismatic Studies) by Michael S. Stephens (Jul 7, 2008) One of the things this book mentions is a link between E. E. Byrum and F. F. Bosworth which we were previously unaware of.
Unfortunately our distributor does not carry this book but Amazon has limited quantities if you are interested in following up on this topic.
We’ve made some updates to Allen’s biography We’ve also added birth, marriage, and death records for Allen and his wife. Finally we’ve added a photo of Allen’s grave plot location (since there is no headstone) to the reference page under his biography.
We’ve added a rendition of the healing testimony of Carrie Judd through the prayers of Sarah Mix. This was published in November 1879. This article can be found on the reference pages for both Mix and Carrie Judd Montgomery under their biographies.
