We have found and excellent article about Pentecostal Women in Australia by Barry Chant.  This Thesis covers 12 Pentecostal Women in Australia – including Mina Ross Brawner.  This article has been added to the reference section under Brawner’s biography and covers many specifics of where she ministered and the fruit of that ministry.

We have added The Healing Of Christ In the Church by Hickson plus a couple of other articles.  There is also an interesting article called James Moore Hickson, Healer which tells that Hickson regularly prayed for deliverance from evil spirits and could discern demonic activity by smell.  Look in the reference section under Hickson’s biography.

We don’t normally promote outside materials but we would like to recommend an incredibly moving documentary that has become available on DVD.  There have been many prophetic words about future attacks against Jews and the need for the church to step up to protect them when the time comes.

The French documentary “Weapons The Spirit” is about Le Chambon-sur-Lignon, a tiny Protestant farming village in the mountains of south-central France.  Defying the Nazis and the French government that was collaborating with the Nazis, the villagers of the area of Le Chambon provided a safe haven throughout the war for whoever knocked on their door.  Most of the villagers were proud descendants of the Huguenots, first Protestants in Catholic France.  They remembered their own history of persecution, and it mattered to them.  They also read the Bible, and tried to heed the admonition to love your neighbor as yourself. Their pastor, André Trocmé, reminded them the day after France surrendered to Nazi Germany, that they should “resist the violence that will be brought to bear on their consciences through the weapons of the spirit.”  During World War II, in and around Le Chambon, 5,000 Jews were sheltered—by 5,000 Christians!

“THE AUSTRALIAN CAREER OF JOHN ALEXANDER DOWIE” has been added to the reference section under Dowie’s biography.  This is a paper prepared for the Centre for the Study of Australian Christianity, and published 10 August 1992.  Much of Dowie’s Australian background is not well known and this paper really fills in some gaps.

Finis E. Yoakum had a healing and evangelistic ministry in Los Angeles in the 1900’s.  Years after Yoakum’s death his Pisgah Home became a refuge for older pentecostals, including many of those who had been involved in Azusa Street. This is when the magazine called Herald of Hope was published. You can read the history in the book called “They Told Me Their Stories” by Tommy Welchel. This well of revival continued to bubble for over 50 years.

We’ve been fortunate enough to track down an electronic copy of “Other faith cures; or Answers to prayer in the healing of the sick” by Dr. Charles Cullis.  The link has been added to the reference section under Cullis’ biography.
